frick that. I like instant gratification.
Then this game is not for you. I have not taken the plunge due to wait times, but after everything is in hand you are looking at 6-12 month wait from the ATF, plus and additional $200 for each suppressor, machine gun, destructive device, or suppressor. You will also have that wait time for every item you purchase...

I may go by there and talk to them this week.
I wonder what all is involved in a gun trust. I have a father and a sister that are attorneys. Father is an avid lurker so I will await his text on what he thinks about doing a gun trust.

Thanks for the heads up. I will check them out tomorrow.

The store has to have it in their possession before they will start the paperwork.
Awwwww......... Wasn't aware of that.

I knew about the 6 month ATF wait time, I was just under the impression the suppressor wait time and stamp time could run concurrently.

ETA: I'd like to get one for a .22 for shits and giggles but I don't want my name on any federal forms. I think that's the first people they go to when/if they start banning/confiscating.
Nothing more than when you but a gun from a dealer. Same info, just longer wait.

Wickowick,
Thanks for the reference. Never thought of checking Bayou Shooter's. Will check and see if there are any dealers in N. LA. I know there are some in E. TX, but I'm not sure if you can go across state line to purchase a muzzle suppressor. That may be something to check in to as well.

I believe that they have to be purchased in state but they can be transported no problems. I plan on using mine in MS and TX for hunting. Next will be a SBR 9mm AR.

When I bought my suppressor I just had it put in my name. The guy I bought it from provided all of the paperwork all I had to do was get a passport photo and drop by the local PD and get fingerprinted (which is done digitally now). I gave this back to the seller and he did all the rest. Paid $225 for the Tactical Solutions suppressor and $200 for the tax stamp. Took about 4 months. It is my understanding that I can will it to my son but he would have to buy another tax stamp.

Get the trust, if you don't- you will regret it later. Also, do not get integrated.
CZ 452 is a great pre-threaded bolt rifle.
Walther P-22 for a semi
A 10-22 will have to be threaded, but they can make the cap with the front sight.

NC,
What will I regret?
I'm still learning the terminology. You're advising to get a suppressor that screws onto the muzzle, correct? That's the route I intend to go.

Bowers Group, LLC is advertising on FB all the time that they have .22 suppressors in stock.

You will be able to allow people listed on the trust to use the item.
If you get it as "you" - the item will have to be within 15 feet of you at all times when not locked up at your home. Others will not be able to use it.
Trust bypasses Sheriff also, in my part of the world, CLEO will not sign paperwork anyway.
The twist on will save you money and stamps. A Gemtech is stupid quiet on a bolt action. I don't want to post pics on here, but you can get the sig or walther in pistol and the CZ in bolt and not have to have any threading. The CZ will need a thread adapter to go form the metric pitch to the standard pitch.

I have an AAC 7.62 on order. I sent my dealer the money for one he had on the shelf (
). He sent me back an ATF Form 4 and instructions. I filled it out, including a signature from my a-hole sheriff. I also needed 2 sets of fingerprints and 2 or 4 passport photos. I sent them, and a check for $200 back to me dealer. He looked them all over and submitted to the BATF. Now I wait 4-6 months.
I don't know about the trust thing. I skipped that part for better or worse.

Where did you order your AAC? did you get the SD or SDN-6? I was looking at getting that but they're out of stock now so im contemplating the Wilson combat whisper but 1200$ plus the 200$ would hurt
I was just looking into setting up a trust earlier. Hopefully my base legal office can help me set one up

Nimble,
Thanks. That's the kind of day to day, practial type info I'm looking for.

How does one purchase a gun if one has a firearms trust? One article said that once one has a firearms trust, subsequent weapons would need to be purchased using the trust, not individually; unfortunately, the article didn't provide details of how to do this.

That was another question I have. I assume any muzzle threading done at the factory would work w/ the suppressor (accepting that some thread adaptors might be needed)? I've seen where Ruger has some factory threaded barrels, as well (Ruger 22/45 Lite).

You need to look at the first link I posted, tons of info there...

But that info stays with the dealer (unless he goes out of business), not directly to the ATF. AND there is no record of selling a normal gun vs a class 3 weapon. So in the end there is a HUGE difference.

Thanks for the link. I read it some last night but haven't found all the answers I'm looking for. Will continue to read it.
