At our shop in Walker I think it's like $70 plus any extra freon needed. The machine pulls all of your freon out, and weighs what it takes out. So it's easy to see how much more it needs if any. The shops number is 667-4111 if you decide to see if you need anything else.

That’s cool. Would you make that your first course of action if you were me, or would you start with some of the other replies like a relay or whatever?

It will be super easy to see if the compressor is not staying on by visual inspection. Then the next corse of action would be to DER. I'm only there on Fridays though but you're more than welcome to call up any day after 9 And schedule an appointment for any day. We do good work there and do not screw anyone over.

Thanks. It would also be nice to have a mechanic here I know and trust. Mind if I give you a call/email to discuss it further?

I hope you didn’t add refrigerant with stop leak into the system when you checked the low side pressure for this reason LINK

But I think everyone is implying you need to get it to a shop that can do a proper diagnosis. I use AgCo in BR.

Maybe you can answer a question I've had about recovery machines, when it evacuates, does it take out oil as well? If so, does it take out all the oil? Seems like it would be about impossible for a machine to make a complete extraction of oil.

It takes out a minuscule amount of oil. They have a tank that collects oil and it takes several weeks to fill a quart sized tank of oil.

He’s always done a good job and is very reasonable with the pricing.

I had similar problem with Ford F-150. Turned out the "blend door" did not close to shut off heat. Had to replace blend door motor assembly under/behind floor vent housing. Not sure if this applies to your problem.

Fords are infamous for failed blend door actuators for years.
