I think it'll catch on before long. A couple of fed agencies use it I think.

USSS dropped it about 4 years ago, it's been relegated to a few PDs. Ballistically speaking, it doesn't perform much better then today's 9mm +P+.

Downshift is about to talk about it's feeding prowess and how the necked down cartridge is more reliable.

I like it better than the 9mm. Bottlenecking makes unlimited amounts of sense with APC calibers.

The bottleneck was a good idea... The problem is the neck is so short, bullet set back becomes a legitimate concern. It doesn't have the benefits of full length case tension on the bullet.

You literally get about 50-75 fps more from a 357 sig, and the trade off is ridiculous muzzle blast.

Yea it could definitely be improved.

I don't understand why all of them are not bottlenecked. Trying to cram a 357 bullet into a .40 hole makes way more sense than trying to cram a .40 bullet into a .41 hole.

The same can be said about you cramming your thing in a woman's hole. :rimshot:

The 7.62x25 is an bottleneck pistol round that was designed correctly.

I do definitely agree though. I'd like to see more like that. It's designed right.

Muzzle blast is relative to pressure, right? The +P+ would give the same then on an arguably less stable platform.?
quote:

The 9mm is a 35,000 psi, +P is 38,500 psi and +P+ is 40,000 psi. The 357 SIG is a 40,000 psi. Bullets of the same weight will approximate the same velocities in SIG and +P+. The difference is gun construction, all 9mm's will not handle +P+. All of the 357 SIG's are made to handle the pressures for the caliber.
