I can pretty much agree with most everyone's comments except the Vortex D-back. Had same scope, sold it on ebay. Does not hold zero on a 35 and I cannot see thru it unless my pupil was PERFECTLY aligned with the center of scope. Also using DNZ one-piece with thread lock torqued down. The recoil shook the screws loose where it attached on the breech. Replaced the vor-sux with an older leupold Vari-X III in safe. Very pleased, zero mounting or scope problems since.

I use a Redfield 3x9x40 on a cva elite stalker. Hand load of 58 grains reloader 15 pushing a 200 grain barns tsx pill. Scope holds the zero shot after shot.

58gr of IMR 4895 stacks 200gr Nosler ABs all day. Glad I save brass and had powder & primers. The bullets and a RCBS dies together cost as much as a box of ammo right now.

Scope base problems seem kinda common with them. When I bought mine, the gun store removed the base and re-installed it, and said they had several of the rifles come back with loose bases. Mine only lasted about 20 shots before it was loose again, lucky I didn't shear the bolts off. I removed it again, put red locktite under the base and on the screws, and 40ish shots later its still holding fine.
The rifles are stupidly accurate with great triggers. A man can buy one for $250 (at least thats what mine was) and shoot grizzly at 20 yards and speed goats at 400 yards and everything in between. Cva scout 35 whelens are the real one-gun choice in North America

A 36x scope that costs $3500 to deer hunt w/ a 35 Whelen???
The good news....it would help dampen recoil since it weighs 34 oz.
ETA: Good, I see you are kidding.
Either of the 3-9X scopes mentioned would be fine, but I'd opt for a nice 2-7X. As far as mounting, I'd use a Weaver one piece base and Burris Sizgature Z rings, the ones w/ the plastic inserts. I don't like one piece scope base/rings combinations. The one time I used one, the fixed placement of the rings didn't fit my scope.

I loaded 56.7 grains of 4895 with 200 gr AB and was the same POI as 200 gr core lokt. I haven’t played with it much. I was happy with that .
I have a redfield revelution 4-12x40 that’s been true for close to 10 years . It’s on a 35 whelen Handi rifle .

Same setup for me. I'm shooting Barnes 180 grain out of my Scout.

. I’m just partial to Leupold. I have a cheaper vortex on a 308. Not sure what model but it’s not very good . Poor low light capability and I have a heck of a time getting positioned on it for full field of view. Like I said it is a lower model .

I had grabbed the Nikon Prostaff Muzzle loader scope for $70 last year when Academy was getting rid of all their Nikons. It’s done a great job.
