Thanks for the kind words, hypnos.

Through the years I've fireformed a bunch of rounds for a number of different cartridges, including the 6.5 JDJ, 6X50R Bellm and the 22-250 Improved. I fireformed #500 rounds for the 6.5 JDJ for an antelope/prairie dog hunt. That was back when I seemed to have more time and energy than I do now. If the fireforming is done right, the brass will last a LOOOONG time.

according to RSILVERS, who helped push the SAAMI spec remington currently makes 3 to 1 300 vs 556 on the machines.

I would imagine that this is true to a point, taking into consideration that those rounds are headed to the SF/Delta/SEAL groups.

After all, Im pretty sure they need it a bit more than we do at this time.

No problem. If its one thing life has taught me its that when you come across someone who knows more than you do, you recgonize it, STFU, and listen to what they have to say.

This link has a number of different (and some of them are very interesting) ways of making 300 Blackoout brass from 223 brass. Surprised to see that many don't turn the necks or ream the brass and have not had any problems.

Worked for me, but let me try it again.
Lots of 300 Whisper/300 AAC on the Quarterbore.net forum.

Samsung G3 to the rescue. I've seen this site before but back then it lacked much of anything. I'll spend the night looking around and report back tomorrow.

Might be a dumb question, but does 300 round burn a bit dirtier than reg 223 brass? I sighted mine in last weekend and when I cleaned it today, it looked like I popped off about 100 or more instead of 30.

My 300/221 Thompson Center Contender w/ a 12" barrel runs pretty clean. The loads usually are only burning about 17 grains of powder. Maybe semi-autos run dirtier. Or the load you were using may have been using a powder that's dirtier than usual.

This gets me all giggly inside

I love everything about .300 whisper/blackout except the name. .300 whisper is WAY cooler than .300 blackout.

I remember being a kid and looking in this book the old man had at .300 whisper stuff and being intrigued as hell. Always wanted one.

The best answer that I can give is that I do not believe so. It seems on part with my 5.56 with a 16" barrel and much much much cleaner than my AK. However, I have not shot more than a few hundred rounds though it due to the Gunapoloclipse.

Downshift, just get yourself a multucaliber marked lower and an unmarked barrel in 300 blackout. Then you can tell people that it shoots 300 Whisper and some other 30 Cal round.
