No, its a diesel. I've been driving and towing some pretty crazy amounts lately. I've put on 16k miles in 3 months and 9k are towing.

That aint gonna happen. Those things are indestructible. If it does (it wont), you can replace the engine for the cost of a fuel pump failure on a diesel.

they changed the design of the cp4.2 supposedly second half of last year from asymmetrical lobe design to symmetrical.

I wasn't aware of that. They need to change the cooling fuel flow so that metal from a pump death goes back to the tank rather than through the fuel rail. Its just not a robust pump like the CP3.

Remains to be seen how the denso will hold up but I have not heard of any horror stories yet. Ram has failed some CP4's already but they have been covered from what I've seen.

I agree with all of that, but it's hard to judge the failure rate because people only go to the internet to complain. Worst thing I've heard/ read so far is parts availability.

Not much help here other than with the "looks department" but these days Ford, Chevy, and Dodge 3/4 tons all look great so from that perspective its going to be personal preference. I personally think the Ford looks the best on the outside, but that could be because I see those on the road the most around my parts. I will say though that the new GMC's and Chevy's look really good. Most of the roughneckin' diesel baws I see around here are in Fords and GM trucks for whatever that is worth.

Correct, but it is clear that Ford will absolutely not warranty the failure where ram and GM were covering the majority.
