You'll have way more room to spreadout on the pontoon and the 150 should be able to pull a tube if you want.

How many people on board you planning on taking at a time?
6, deck boat. More the other.

Deckboat will prolly be faster, but a Tri toon will run with the planing hulls....

The Tahoe will handle rougher waters better, so I'd say it depends on where you plan on taking it.

My vote is the deckboat. I know a guy who has a 215 Tahoe deckboat and it’s just so versatile. Easier to store and trailer and still runs like a boat. It’s a really versatile platform.

Besides upholstery to go bad on either boat the pontoon will be way Les maintenance. A fiberglass boat will always battle transom problems, gelcoat issues and also weigh more. Just a thought.

Unless it's carpeted. Never liked having a carpeted boat on the water.
eta: I think I misread what you were saying, but still..carpet sucks

Yeah I didn’t think about the pontoon having carpet. My buddies has a rubber floor. I didn’t even think about a pontoon possibly having carpet.

I would take the extra space (storage and human space), lower cost, and easier fishability of the Suntracker. A 150 on a 22 ft pontoon will haul arse, don't let anyone lie to you.

Yea this decision is a real pain in the arse. I like both of them. Got 6 kids ages newborn to 10 (yea, I know. Shut up). Plan on taking it on rivers and bayous, lake ponchartrain, rigolets, lake borgne, and possibly to GI.

That's a different story. My perspective on pontoons is using them exclusively on reservoirs.

Get the pontoon for the space.

I have a 24' Suntracker Fishing Barge with a 150 black motor....it will run 38 with the top down, and just me in it. Plenty fast enough.
I've tried every trick in the book to get it up on the "pad", which doesn't exist on it....
