.22 on AR platform

If you want to save a little money, buy a PSA lower on sale then a Bear Creek upper.

I have a Bear Creek side charging upper in .22 WMR. Works well once I figured out the bugs. They don’t work well with drop in triggers like a Rise Armaments. Swapped to a lower with mil spec trigger and it runs flawlessly. Think the hammer profile on the drop in caused some issues.

Looks like a complete rifle from BCA is under $400. Upper is < $300.


For just a fun gun this will get you there. If you want to shoot some type of match you’re going to spend more $$$

That's just not true. It depends on the type of match. If you are shooting precision then yes, you will need to spend some money. If you are shooting action steel M&P 15-22 will be just fine. I bought one just to shoot steel challenge, and I made master class with it bone stock.

I bought an M&P 3 or 4 years ago. Haven't have any issues with it. I've shot a few other semi auto .22 and none of the cycle as reliably as the M&P.

If you're looking for a semi auto to absolutely stay away from, do not get anything Mossberg in .22 semi auto.

I build 5.56 ARs for the kids then drop the CMMG conversion kit in. Have 3 of them running flawlessy and i can upgrade them when the kids are ready with a BCG and mag swap.

They run really well. I have 2 righty and 1 lefty. My only issue is one tends to get stuck in the receiver. I do run a more mid grade ammo through them but thats mostly because green box 22 has too many miss fires and stove pipes and i don't liek the kids having to screw with a gun with a live round in the chamber. The flexibility to go back to 5.56 is ideal for me.
