Heading down to Toledo bend mid lake for the next 3 weekends in a row. Lots of reports fish are headed in for the first wave of nesting.

It’s going to be an extremely good derby season again for me and my partner!

Let it rip boys!!!! Let’s hear who’s doing what?!?!?

How is Rayburn fishing? I might cancel my clients on Toledo to fish Rayburn champs on the 22nd.

Rayburn is fishing better than Toledo. You can catch so,e fish up shallow on Toledo right now, but they aren’t on the banks. Look for creek swings holding fish staging up getting ready to make a push. What we’ve been doing on Toledo though is focusing on main lake drains in 18-23’ catching some good fish on an Arig and big crankbait. Also, there are TONS of bass roaming deep flats in 27-32’ chasing balls of Shad. If you have Livescope you can chase then and catch some hammers.

As for Rayburn, we had a 30lbbag last week we caught up shallow. Typical Rayburn fishing, traps and chatterbaits around grass. Senkos are getting it alot too. Sure wish they’d let me fish Champs next week. It’s going to take a BIG bag.

I have not had success doing this yet. Just so much work compared to crappie on wood.

I was kind of surprised by the weight the BFL took but the weather made it tough fishing.

Fish are definitely staging up. Found a lot of fish scattered around brush piles.

You’re right, Livescope makes catching crappie a lot easier, but it’s worth investing some time learning to chase suspended fish with. We had a day a couple weeks ago with a 5, 6, and 9 all suspended chasing Shad. It is a learning curve, but worth it when it pays off.

I ran across some at Indian Creek last month under balls of shad, but I was killing the 15 inchers, so I just could not make myself do it. I may ask Ross Bryant to take me once. I think once I see it or do it, I'll be good.

We have the annual boys trip lined up for March 20th.

I'm about ready to start sneaking down there to get tuned in. I feel like we have quite a few more cold fronts left to screw it up between now and then.

I have Livescope but it’s so hard for me to get out there and try to chase this suspended fish. I’ve used it to catch a shite ton of crappie the last few months, but I still prefer fishing shallow for bass. I’m hard headed though, I’ll go out for a little while and usually end up catching spots, then I’ll say screw this and go back to slinging a jackhammer

I keep a drop shot on deck. I've caught a few bass moving in on my crappie structure. It's frustrating though, as my hit percentage is even less than crappie. I've tried robo worm and flukes. Robo has been slightly better.

Y’all give me some tips on how to catch them in 20 to 25 ft. That seems to be my weak spot. I marked a shite ton this weekend that I know were bass but wouldn’t touch a worm or Carolina rig.

Added a photo of what I thought were bass

Just bought a camp on midlake (NEGREET) in oct. been there every weekend doing upgrades. Have been watching people fish and myself fishing too. Found in the last two weeks the bass are starting to come in. getting ready. Lot of males are already staging with the bigger females just off shore setting in about 18 to 27 ft. Awesome part watching the shad balls show up right before dark when there is no wind. see a lot of popping and chasing.
