After a bottle of Willet and 150 rounds through my new Colt, my buddy sprays some kind of solvent on it and attempts to clean it for me in the dark. Laminate finish on rosewood grips ruined. What are the badass OB 1911 addicts recommendations for grips? Looking at the VZ's and can't decide. It's a bi-tone Combat Elite dying for something to set it off.

hopefully this wasn't the correct order.

I was right there with him. My gun, my fault.

I actually took my nice wood grips off and went with an OD Green rubber cheapo grip. I like the green and black look...

That way I don't worry about messing up the nice wood, and I can always replace them looking brand new if I decide to sell it.

VZ's are good but the grip can be pretty aggressive and takes some getting used to if all you've used are the stockgrips.

I have a pair of these from Raasco Grips on my Colt Combat Commander. The color is called Charcoal Silvertone. I love them because I wanted something just a little different than standard wood grips.

Those are pretty sweet. Hard to beat those George Costanza's though.

This.

And also VZ grips have a ton of different textures. Get the one that looks best and go for it. I love my grips on my 1911. Will post a pic when I'm home.

My black VZ Gunner's.

If you're worried about the texture being too aggressive you can always sand it down a little to smooth it out.

I know where you're coming from. But I think it depends on the "type" of skin on your hands, if that makes sense. They feel great in my hands. But I have heard a few people say they didn't like how aggressive they felt.

I like em too but I didn't want that logo on mine. So I had the guy make them for me without it.
