Academy has them on sale. How do the two reels compare? I have a Curado and absolutely love it. But for $139 I’d be willing to try the Concept

Probably a personal preference deal but I sold all my Concept As and replaced them with Curado K models and have been very happy so far. The A was a little lighter but the Curado has more line capacity.

ETA: Amazon has the Concept Z for $91 right now, I've never tried them but a few friends that own them preferred them over their As.

Then you probably shouldn't change. If you're hellbent on getting one make sure you put it in hands and see if it feels right first.

I’m not telling you to get the a over the curado but I have multiple concepts in different models and have not had a problem with my a. Throw it in saltwater/brackish exclusively also. Casts a mile and is smooth. Super strong drag also.

Concept reels prices are falling cause lots of people having problems with them. If you fish often they will not last. Great reel out of the box if you want to buy new reels every couple of years.

I think either way you’ll be happy. I have six 13 reels and love them all. Fishing padnuh has several K series Curados and he likes them also... both are solid reels, it’ll come down to personal preference.

i walked in a local tackle shop that also does reel repair. the guy behind the counter was working on a reel, he looked up at me with a disgusted look and said, "don't ever buy a fricking 13 fishing reel. And i probably shouldn't say that bc i sell them." that is my only experience with a 13, i have curado k's and love them

At that price you won’t be disappointed, but if someone held out both reels and told me I could have one, I’d take the curado and not look back.

I have a Concept C, Concept Z, and Concept A. Been having them for a while without any issues. Get the Z over the A, especially for the price.

I have a concept a and I really love it but it’s the only baitcaster I have that claims to be saltwater ready and it’s the only one that the coating is falling off of. I have a curado k too and I’ll probably buy another when the concept fails.

Hot take but I used to be a 100% shimano guy and I just don’t like them any more. I don’t think they are what they used to be. For baitcasters I’ve switched to 13 and Lews and I think there reels are way better. I’m a $150ish price point guy and at that point, shimano isn’t very good. The Curado DC might be incredible but I’ve never spent $250 on a reel.

You’re entitled to your opinion but shimano’s build quality is as good or better than its ever been. Not gonna talk down about 13 or Lews but I’ve beat my shimanos to hell, run a q-tip over the brake pipe and oil the bearings every few months and they are just like the day I bought them.
