Caddo Parish public
45 and cloudy and breezy
Mathews Legacy
200 grain Samurai with 100 grain insert
API climber
Same spot as yesterday. Saw 2 bucks running, no shots.
Rant: Sometimes I hate public land. Pulled up to the parking spot at 5ish this morning like always. See a different truck than normal (normally there are just 2 other guys that hunt this block). 2 dudes sitting on the tailgate, sucking on cancer sticks and blaring FGL. I immediately hate them.
I pack up my stuff and get settled in my stand by 5:30ish.
At 6:20, guess who comes strolling by just chatting away?
After whistling to them, they slowly stroll on, still just a chatting, and then one still decides to climb within 100 yards of me.
Worst part is that the main trail is between me and him and he is directly upwind and reeks of cigs. FML.
I don’t know why I’m still in the tree honestly. I rarely have issues out here. First bad experience in like 3-4 years.

Possibly the best day of the year so far and this shite happens. FML.

Public land sucks but Ive had similar experiences on a lease before. Locals who belong to the same club but think they own the land.
Good luck at next time. Who blares music at 5am?

3 more does just made a loop around the opposite side of me. Lots of doe movement so far.
My only hope is that any buck that comes by is more preoccupied with the does than the stench of cigarettes.

Stranglehold came across the playlist on the way to the property this morning. I turned it up to about 3/4 and rolled my window down.
That was at 0430 though

Sounds like you are seeing some movement and with bucks crushing yesterday maybe some rutting activity. I have a small spot in Caddo I occasionally sit with a couple of good bucks and I haven't seen a single cam pic since early last week, very strange.

28 degrees and almost no wind
AR-15 300 blackout with Hornady 190 grain Sub-X
20’ hang on overlooking a couple of trails with a nice scrape and rub as well.
Only a bunch of fox squirrels so far. Got a nice 10 point here last week.
Good luck!

I’ve got similar problems on my own family land. One of the worst instances was ol baw passing me on the trail at about 0630, and sat the stand right past me. We’ve got roughly 35-40 stands and 13 members, 6 of which might make 5 hunts a year. I can hear him hacking (smoking) and cracking Dr. Peppers and empty cans bouncing off the stand when he tosses them out. Here comes 0830, he’s passing back. “Seen anything head?”
Bruh....
I kicked him out this year because he bitched about work days, and I quote, said “F them deer and them F’n stands.” wrong person to say that to ol baw.
