Saw no bucks big enough to shoot. Whacked a skillet head. Good weekend none the less

My son and I finished our afternoon hunt...saw over 20 but only one buck...a young 3 pt. Didn't take any but it was a nice afternoon with my son.

Over 2 years old...countless cows trying to get inside as well as some vandalism earlier this year. Heck I would say its hold up just fine....

Nanny, skillet, mama goat, whiffle, flat top, zinger, notta, flop ear, targets, and my personal favorite is the plain old "slick" these can all take the place of doe.

We reserve nanny for the oldest doe around usually a 3 or 4 yr old. youngers are called doe

We got our DMAP report from last year and it says we killed some doe over 6.5 years old. Not sure if accurate but was interesting.

Update:
Sunday my buddy had a birthday party for his son. In attendance were 30 or so families from throughout the county, many of which live within only a mile or two of the property I was hunting. No one in attendance knew either of the two guys, at least by the names they gave me. My buddy and the property owners son are going out today with bolt cutters and the 30-30 to take down the stands. There is a very very slim possibility that the current property owner's father gave these two guys permission to hunt prior to passing away 7 yrs ago. Even if this was true it is extremely strange that they had avoided contact with everyone for the last 7 years.

Are they going to leave a note on the tree so that if the guys were "technically" there with permission?
Posted on 10/4/11 at 11:14 am to 4X4DEMON
no need to leave a note, if thye were "technically" allowed to be there from years ago they are not allowed now. If they want their stuff back they can ask the land owner, his son, or my buddy who are all very prominent in the area. Posted signs have been placed also.

I copy that. You're saying that they'd have to know that the old man had died and hence their permission would be void?

They should know. There is just too much that does not fit with their story.
Even if they don't know that he has passed years ago, the ownership of the land has changed, and they no longer have permission to be on the land.
If they contact the owner of the property and they previously had permission and somehow there was just confusion about implied permission now (VERY UNLIKELY) the current owner and my buddy will likely give back all their stands, shake their hands, and polielty ask them to GTFO.
If they try to get their stands back without convincing evidence that they had any business at all on the land, it will likely get ugly.
From what I know, I would put money on them never requesting the stands, and never making their presence on the property kown again. I do think that it is highly likely that they will continue to hunt on the property even without permisson until they are one day looking down the end of a barrel. I am also concerned that there will be some vandalism on the property and it has convinced me to buy cables and locks for all of my stands here in TX.
I will be better prepared next time though. At the actual time of my interaction with the guy at my stand Sunday am, I knew little of the details of the property. I knew I was givne permission to be on "family land" by my buddy and just trusted that to be good enough. The next time I will make sure I know the the previous property owner's name if it recently changed hands, the current property owner's name and contact info, and the relationship between my host and the property owner/leaser.
property owners name,

Those are good things to know when hunting on someone else's land.
A little different, but I went to my duck blind one day and somebody was in it. I just pulled up to the blind and before I could stop my boat the guy in it said, the owner of this blind gave me permission to hunt it. I asked him whose name was on the sign on the blind. When he said the name on it, I said, that's me a-hole. It only took him about 5 minutes to pick up his shite and get the frick out of the blind.

That is exactly what I would have loved to question this guy on. I really didnt feel threatened until I had to climb down since I had the height advantage, had an arrow nocked which he did not, and had him spotlighted so he could not see me.

I have family land here in Alabama and we give out written permission that is signed by the owner and hunter. This written permission form also has dates on them. We never write one for more than one year, and anyone who want to hunt from year to year has to get a new form. It has worked well for us has been used to scare off poachers in the past.
