Thought you were an xray tech? Anyway, I saw 6 doe in the second stand I sat in. None close enough to shoot.

The story:

Came up to visit inlaws for MIL bday. Of course it is opening weekend in TX, so I wasn't to happy with the timing. To smooth things over the wife arranges for me to bow hunt Sat and Sunday on one of our friends family land. The wife and kids drove up on thursday and I flew up Friday after work. Our friend went out on his families land after assuring permission mid Fri to set up a stand that I had sent up here with my wife. He found a good location on a hardwood finger between a bean field and a corn field that intersected with a recently maintined/ cleared powerline. When he got ready to set up the stand he noticed there was an old ladderstand already there, complete with old faded straps, a rusted out security chain, and a faded pad. He called the property owner and his son who both hunt the property and the current resident of the property and no one knew who it belonged too. Everyone assumed the stand was a long forgoten stand that had been re discovered after the powerline was recleared . They agreed I could hunt it. I hunted the stand Sat am and pm.

Sunday, I decided to get out early for the last hunt. I got to the stand about 5 min after starting this thread. Settled in and watched a few shooting stars. Just before 6 I heard an atv coming toward the stand then it stopped and shortly there after a guy with his bow is walking toward the stand. When he got close I shined my flashlight on him. He tells me I'm in his stand. I tell him who I am and who gave me permission to be there. He didn't know my friend. I asked if he lived on the place and he said he lived across the street but had full access. I got his name and asked if he knew the owners son who I only know by first name . He didn't know him either. He called his freind whose name I also got and after a short conversation he tellls me I have to go. I made sure other than a bow, which had no arrow nocked, he was not visibly armed and I climbed down. I appologized for the misunderstanding and got out of there.

So far, no one knows either of the two guys and they didn't know any of the names I mentioned supposedly. My buddy and his family have owned land in this town of 12000 for 7 generations and have the original land grant signed by Ulysses S. Grant. I still have not talked with my buddy as he is doing a field trial today, but his wife suspects they were not supposed to be there. I likely gave up my hint to a poacher and his buddy. But considering I was following MO law and did not have my pistol, I decided 3 hours of hunting was not worth further confrontation.

Yea that sounds crazy. There's a guy that hunts next to a small tract my dad owns near home, and he's left notes on friends if ours' vehicles saying they were trespassing (we gave them permission). He's walked up on my brother during a hunt to tell him he shouldn't be there as well. He just tries to be a dick because we're hunting "his deer," it's just not worth dealing with him to go sit back there and not see anything but the occasional spike or small doe. It's a real PITA.

I am. I work in interventional radiology. We do everything from PICC lines to abcess drains, cerebral arteriograms, etc. That sucks about your hunt.

Well I may be the only evening hunter, and I may be allergic.to everything in these woods, and I may have already sneezed 7 times, and I may have drank too.much after the game last night causing me to miss my morning hunt, but I wanted to say that its awesome having 3g service in my deer stand.

You need some allegra brother. Good luck, I hope you drop a good one. I'm sitting in Springfield airport waiting on my overbooked delayed flight to show up so I can go to work in am.
Infidel, the tags cost me 225 for what turned out to be a single day of hunting. I am going to have to make another trip up this year.

As far as trespassing, I too freaking hate it. From everyhing I can tell these guys were either there with permission and this is all a big misunderstanding, or they are poaching and I avoided a possible 2 vs 1 confrontation.

Pretty sure I could have taken that collarless bastard and his unseen friend. Hell, when he walked up my arrow was already nocked in the monster and he couldn't see me due to the flashlight. Unfortunately I make a pretty big target for gun fire. It is not a good idea to bring only a knife and a bow to a gun fight.

When did MO go up on the license fee? I went up there bow hunting a few years ago with an outfitter and paid $125 over the counter for out of state big game and archery combined.

Made a hunt this evening. Had a small 2yr old 8pt come out. He fed for prob 20 min. Was hoping something bigger or a cull would show up but enjoyed the hunt anyway

Was fishing ...
Never bow hunted before but my buddy talked me into buying a crossbow.
Am trading a guy in a few days for a 7 Mag Bar Safari w/ Zeiss scope.

I'm more of a fisherman. Spent Friday at Big Lake and caught 75 Sand Trout and 100 Croakers.
Congrats on the kill...my buddy usually kills enough deer to feed us all year.
