Good luck man. Get a dog before the rain. I hit a decent 8 past week. Had bright red blood for 100yds. Then stopped. We even got dogs on it and they went almost 2 miles to river, looks like he swam across. Hope he lived. Sickening feeling, first ive ever hit and didnt recover

Chatrabbit,
Have the mindset that you killed the deer and will find him. Dog or not. If you made a decent hit, the deer will be within 150 yards, maybe closer. Develop a plan for a grid search if there isn’t enough blood.

Happened to me before. Didn't find any blood and found the dead deer

Imgur is being a bitch. I can email some. I got in touch with the dog people. They are trying to find me a handler. My friend and I found quite a bit of blood but only went like 30yards in 1hr because it is so thick out there lol
Edit:
Here is blood where I shot him. A bit more but I couldnt frame it all. The pine is last blood I found in thicket.

He has to be in that thicket. Get you a machete and start getting in there

With that much blood, I would feel confident that you can find this deer. Those last pics look like it's pumping out petty good.

identical to how my 7pt looked last week. Dark chunky big blood spots...I saw it pumping out through the scope as he stood up and ran off...he made it 30 yards. you should find him close

Tracker is coming. My buddy who drove over said it's best to let those guys handle it. They called and said to back out of woods and wait so I'm sitting in the trailer. Took us 1hr to go 30 yards but lots of blood along the way. He is down somewhere but I don't want to keep going if the dog will find it with less trouble. It kinda does suck waiting though. I literally sat down in my lawn chair setup at 8 and he came at 8:05 lol. I guess I was lucky.

They will find him. Those guys around here are good.

Go pickup a six pack and enjoy the high. Good feeling knowing you got a good buck down. And you got a dog coming to do the tedious work.

I’d get some food and buy a 12 pack and offer them a drink

Are the deer moving a lot today?
Posted on 1/10/20 at 12:14 pm to ChatRabbit77
No fun to wait, but usually worth it. We put our friends dog on my buck Saturday and she made short work of it. He’d gone 150-200 yards.
