Sherburne wma
It's cold with a slight wind
Weatherby 6.5 CM
Set the top section of my climber about a foot off the ground on a tree so I can comfortably hunt the ground.
Bucks only, so hoping a decent buck steps out. Trying not to shoot any babies.
Planning to stay all day because I think they're moving mid day.

Happy Burthday

W.Feliciana Parish
Ground blind in hardwood creek bottom
28 degrees NW wind steady and gusting

On day 5 of 13. Seen bucks chasing every morning but no shooters. Starting to think you can’t kill what’s not there. Won’t know if I don’t try

Good luck everybody except my neighbors

Just blasted the gadwall hole behind my house. We came out with 7 and 2 woodies. Total time elapsed from first shot to last shot was 4 minutes. Good times

I crossed a pipeline going in. If you saw a bright red light, it was probably me.

I can see that. But getting dressed is the hardest part of the deal. Then you walk 200 yards from your back door for 4 minutes of fast as you can shoot in your face duck blasting. It's pretty damn fun imho. If I would have had 2 grown ups instead of 2 little kids as my wingmen we would have probably gotten our limit.

It's awesome but you can only shoot it a couple times a year. I'll have to let them build back up for a few weeks before we pop them again..

Alright everybody.

Good cold weather shite that knocks the wind down that I could find at cabelas....bottoms, face and neck stuff.

GO

That light wind turn into 10+ mph with gusts that easily hit 20. Had my thick socks that I wore to work with my insulated boots which made my feet sweat then freeze. Legs went numb and my bacalava didn't take that wind too well. Miserable ain't the word for it but deer were moving. Sat til 9:30 but I don't know how

Ladder stand on fence splitting 2 CRP fields.
Filled corn feeder for the hogs
.280

Learned my lesson yesterday. Spent the time between hunts getting some work done. Thought it had warmed up more than it did and went to the stand underdressed. This damn wind goes from 0-30 at the snap of a finger. Don’t think I’ll be taking any long shots if it’s blowing like this

The best clothing accessory that I’ve bought this year....

Arctic Shield Boot Covers

Put them on over your boots and throw in a hand warmer or two. Hunted in Kansas last week with temps around 10 degrees. Wore my regular 1200g Lacrosse boots and put these on - never had any issues with cold feet.

Just a little FYI, cabelas has their "10 point insulated bibs" that were $165 on sale for &70. And they're out of any head gear whatsoever.
Going eat supper with the family this evening. Getting back at it tomorrow.

Have any experience with their wooltimate fleece with windblocker? They have it on sale now too for $70 for the hoodie.

Bought some of the boot covers also. Most mornings I kick my boots off and put them over my socks before climbing up my ladder. More comfortable, room to move my feet around and toss in a hand warmer and never have an issue
