Something just dawned on me, and I’ve confused myself.
How are there ends where neither team scores a point? Closest to the button scores, so does that mean there just aren’t any rocks in the house to be able to score? On the surface it seems like there should always be at least one point scored by a team since there aren’t usually empty houses at the end of an end.
So like in this match against Sweden. How did the first end come out to 0-0?
I assume it’s based on some sort of strategy to try to avoid only scoring 1 and trying to get or keep the hammer.

I think Sweden was trying to keep the hammer in the even rounds so they would hope to have it in end 10, so they ceded a draw in 1 to keep the hammer in 2
Someone correct me if I'm wrong
But the US stole 1 in the 4th so now the even hammer is on the US side

Yeah I just edited my post to include the hammer strategy angle.
I am on Peacock watching so I just rewound it to the first end, and it’s exactly as I figured. Ended up being an empty house and then Sweden just ran one through to keep the hammer for the second end.

They said on the broadcast that the Canada women are the heavy favorites during the match today. Is that the same on the men’s side too?

I would guess. This team don’t look too hot. I miss Shuster already.

The US women's skip missed another shot there in the 9th end. She had a bad last 2 throws against Sweden yesterday too. Not having a great olympics so far.

Good start for the men this morning. 4 in the first end. Had a bad throw with hammer in the 3rd end that lead to a German steal. Pick it up here.

What an awful throw by Casper to let them steal one. Damn.

2nd time he’s done that with the last throw today. Let them right back in it.
