I caught some of Fox covering the spill last night and it was horrible. The segment was about people that were blaming Bush for the spill were wrong because the MMS employees that are being vilified now are civil servants, not political appointees. Basically, their coverage was to comment on what someone else commented.

Just bad coverage, even when they do cover the story.

I don't care for Fox or CNN (or MSNBC), but at the very least CNN has Anderson Cooper in New Orleans and has local politicians on his show every night. BP CEO was on CNN last night. We can make assumptions as to if CNN is covering this for some ulterior motive, but they are covering it well with interviews with people on the ground. Not purely talking heads speculating.

Don't worry guys, I turned to FOX a few weeks back and someone said the earth will take care of the oil spill, so I'm not worried at all.

Maybe FOX thinks this is not that big of a deal unlike CNN and the liberal wackos.

Europe crashing and war with N. Korea are really WAY more important that this oil leak!

Fox only pushes their GOP political agenda. They never stray from that. When Bush was president Fox blamed the so called liberal media for his poor ratings. Now Fox does everything they can to destroy Obama. Fox is such a cancer to the high standards of reporting the news.

In my opinion CNN is doing the best job out there covering the oil spill. CNN also has many tie-ins to Louisiana such as Anderson Cooper, Campbell Brown, James Carville, etc. and their concern for the people of Louisiana shows in their reporting They have been pretty hard on the Obama administration on this one, in fact, I'd say they are the "fair and balanced" one, not FOX.

Are you really trying to suggest that Fox doesn't have enough time to cover this story?

1. I'm a Fox watcher and agree their coverage has been pretty crappy lately, but they were all over it early on.
2. Anyone that thinks Fox is more biased to the right, then the other news outlets are biased to the left has a severe case of cranial-rectal-inversion.

Fox did a great job yesterday morning. Their first story was about the winner of American Idol and talk of the oil spill didn't come until 10 minutes into their broadcast at 7AM.

American fricking Idol.

I turned to Fox News yesterday at around 1 p.m. to see what their top story was just out of curiosity.

It was those damn Mexicans trying to cross our border.

Is that what you mean by "international?"

Does FOX have financial ties to BP, Halliburton or Transocean?

That is something I have considered because ever since Obama has taken office FOX has been a 24/7 terror spewing network, usually over insignificant issues. Now that there is a legitimate 'scare', they aren't covering it. Hmmm? I smell BS.

I would also like to point out that I am an independent that watches all the networks, listens to NPR, conservative talk radio, hell i even listen to Rush on occasion (even though i can't stand him) just to try to get a well rounded idea of what is really going on. IMO, FOX is by far the most biased news source....and it's not even close.

I thought this more to do with who BP gave access to.

Which is why I get my news from international outlets, no poli bias, straight up news. At the time of this posting, both have the oil spill on its respective "Americas" homepage.

Al Jazeera
BBC

It's not just about politics, it's about branding and "owning" the story. CNN is going with it 24/7 because they are positioning themselves as "the oil spill news source." Fox perfected this years ago with the Gary Condit and swiftboat stories. CNN did this with the Calee Anthony story too.

I think it has something to do with politics too, but I bet you Fox has surrendered over-the-top coverage to CNN and are sticking to what they do best: fear, Obama bashing, tea parties, and immigration.

Update: Every news channel, including The Weather Channel, is showing the 5pm Friday BP press conference live.

Everyone, that is, except Fox News.

Agreed.

And didn't Brit Hume ask, "Where's all the oil? I don't see it." And Oily Tates Limbaugh said "nature will clean this up."

When the "Drill Baby Drill" folks were criticized, the spill was no big deal. But if it's a chance to slam President Obama, well, it's Armageddon and Obama is the antichrist.

I would like to add that fox's claim of "fair and balanced" is the most absurd statement that I have ever heard. Ever.

CNN isn't bringing up a whole lotta new info - they just keep regurgitating the same old crap. FOX has been responsibly covering this story along with other pertinent stuff going on around the world. Are you really surprised CNN isn't overly focussed on the Sestack scandal?
