just saw this on msnbc. seems like a temporary solution at least. Can the BOP keep operating for a longer period of time?

Using sea water was one of the reasons the blow out occured. If you're going to push back, you need somethibg heavier than sea water.

Don't know. I recently got his radio program where I am at, and his stuff is nauseating. I can't imagine the people that can listen to him all day. I love talk radio, and I don't mind Fox. But Beck is pretty far out there for a main stream guy. Yes, there are plenty of other whack jobs that spew bullshite all over the airwaves, but the difference is many of the aforementioned actually believe the shite they say, while I think Beck doesn't believe half the stuff he says. He just tries to mind frick his audience.

Yes he does, why just yesterday on his tv show he had all the great contributions that Black Americans made during the early years of this great nation. He talked about some great Americans. Boy he was mind fricking me. Damn .

What if the sea water was pumped in to the pipe at a much higher flow rate than the outcoming oil? That wouldn't work?

If not, then keep getting more of this "mud"

At least its reducing oil flow rate to the surface.

You are assuming that they can sustain that volume of input, and depending on the type of mud used, it may not really have that much of an ecological boost to have that venting instead of oil

0.052 x TVD x MW

I really have no idea. Just a suggestion to possibly decrease oil to the surface. I was curious to know how long the BOP can run at a high rate, pumping mud. Maybe exchange them out if they have more than one.

The flow rate wouldn't help much. TVD is the real problem.

Yeah, that is the kind of math that would be used here....but what is your point?

You can only increase MW to saturation point and if that doesn't help then the only other thing you can do is increase TVD.

By increasing the flow rate you're only increasing the friction which would only be good for maybe a .5 ppg ECD increase. They need something like a 20 ppg increase.
