That makes me feel so much better.

Speaking of capping oil spill, sink the superdome. I've said it before i'll say it again.

Sink the superdome, cap the spill, have bp build a new stadium.

win, win, win.

Hmmmmm... a short list to "keep this in perspective" includes 11 platform workers dead, 17 others injured; costs to BP to date of $2 Billion; substantial costs to impacted Gulf states, including Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and especially Louisiana suffering economic devastation from loss of tourism, fishing, and supporting business; countless individuals, families and businesses struggling to survive financially and facing complete loss of income, business, homes, boats and cars; an environmental disaster and hazards that could take a decade to overcome, with marshland and some species possibly never recovering; so far no deity responding to prayers for spill to stop... hell, the list goes on and on and it ain't close to over yet.

I wish I hadn't posted the actual number of Superdomes in the original post because I'm guessing many on this board would have said at least 10.

How dare you not be freaking out, you should be ashamed.

This board started out a good source of technical info, but the politards have spilled over onto our shores.

I thought I had read something that said that the oil that has spilled out would fill 2 superdomes. I guess there is a lot of speculation as to how much as actually spilled out. some are saying its actually around 6M BBLS, then some are saying its between 1.5M-3M BBLS. So I can see where that can be mis reported.

60,000

Is that before or after they cut the riser? Is that what is actually going into the GOM or is that how much they are capturing?

Arent they capturing around 24,000 BBLS a day from the leak it self? So on top of that there is another 60,000 bbls leaking into the GOM??

Not a glass-half-full guy I take it.

From my perspective, a glass half-full contains the same amount of beer as a glass half-empty.

b/c the best perspective is to compare oil in the gulf to the liquid gallon capacity of the Superdome?

to me that says how big the superdome is. Not how small the spill is.

But it says there is one gallon of crude for every 5 billion gallons of water.

Yea, I think the surface area of the oil is more important than the volume.

All you guys that are bashing COSMO for using the phrase "Lets keep this in perspective" amuse me.

You guys sure did beat the hell out of an argument HE NEVER MADE.

I am glad I saw that link.
It DOES put the AMOUNT of OIL in some kind of perspective.
I thought it was FAR greater.
It gives me hope.
