Grand Isle this weekend - pics

was in Grand Isle this weekend for a friends bachelor party.
there are a few different groups down there doing oil things. we didn't see any "clean up" on the island itself, but i am sure they are offshore.
we hung with some army people down there. they explained that they are there for the clean up effort, however they haven't done much yet. following this we got drinks together as we were speaking with these fellows at a bar.
also BP stopped cleaning efforts for the couple days we were there because of "weather". considering the percentage chance of weather in Grand Isle is 30-40% every day, they might have many days off then.
anyway, here are a few photos i wanted to share. it was very surreal seeing the oil on the sand first hand. its about as thick as molasses, and doesn't come off very easy. my flip flops have a nice brown tint now. soap does not get it off, you have to use GOJO

Yeah, the wildlife is having a hell of a time getting the oil off. It really is sickening. frick B.P.
