Fox news just reported from Elmer's Island

They said up until now, BP wouldn't let any media on the island. Is this true. I was on the phone and couldn't hear everything.

From what I understand, it was privately owned for many years and, after Katrina, it was very badly eroded and eventually closed down. Last year the person who owned it decided to sell it to the state and last summer, for the first time, Elmer’s was opened to the public

I don't know how BP would have authority. It is state owned.

This to some degree but they also don't want even more bad publicity coming out because of dolphins and other wildlife being washed up on shore covered in oil.
