Ok which is it? It was completed 6 months ago or convrted to a skimmer after the DH incident.
Obvioulsy this is a converted tanker. The fact that it was contstructed 6 months ago is irrelevent if it could not skim oil untill a couple weeks ago. Let's not argue meaningless bullshot. There is enough of that on here already.

Not quite. It means they existed back then, yes. But there may not happen to be any lying around with powerful enough pumps today. Normally a supertanker doesn't need them and someone else might.
So there might very well not have been any lying around not doing anything. Even if there were, more than likely it was en route to somewhere carrying a full load of oil already.
So I'm not that surprised that one didn't happen to just be idling at dockside waiting for the call-up.
