We just have to disagree on that one. I don't think her claims are baseless either. I think she is a victim of greed and decisions made by executives of BP that created a cultural environment within the company that is responsible and should be held accountable. I def am not losing any sleep of how BP is treated when my own people and my own backyard is being altered and shaped by decisions they made that were negligent. If negligence is proven, then they are criminally liable too. And when you invest in a company, as a shareholder, you go down with that ship, too. Just the way it is.

I would just find it hilarious if it wasn't such a serious situation that the woman is sooo pissed off at evil BP for creating this leak (which they did) but then goes on to criticize BP for making people get trained and fit tested for respirators.

Omega - I think you were too busy guffhawing to realize what she's SPECIFICALLY upset at BP for...
People are supposed to be able to get respirators if they want them. BP is supposed to supply them. BP says you aren't allowed to receive a respirator at their expense until you take the training/safety instruction course.
BP's "sciency types" are saying that everything is fine and they aren't finding levels which would necessitate a respirator therefor they are not offering the training/safety instruction course (as it is, in BP's estimation - non-essential). Thereby depriving anybody who wants one the opportunity to get one.
THAT is why she's upset.

Here is her exact words.
"They can't wear a volunteer respirator, because if they are not properly trained <pause> bp's rules are that they have to be properly trained in order to wear a respirator. Now BP said they will provide the training and will provide the respirator. <pause> But everything is OK so they don't need to be trained and they don't need a respirator."

to the people who deny a coverup, I have a buddy working down there and they are not allowing ANY videos to be taken. i could be wrong but that sounds like media censoring to me. i think the government as threatened any media who runs stories on this that make it look bad because you know the media would be all over this shite if they could.

How many media productions have you seen that make it look good? Everything I see on the news is negative. Where are they denying access to video? I was allowed to video, I have seen a few other videos. I even have the video (with permission) from the fisherman that were fishing at the rig the blew up the night it happened. Nobody has contacted me about taking it down yet.
I am just throwing out a few facts that I am aware of/part of. I know it will be construed as if I am saying access is not being denied but that is not the case. Never said that. I really would like the answers to the questions I have asked.

You should lose sleep over treating a random BP employee badly because of what some *other* BP employee did merely because they draw the same paycheck.
Remember Abu Graib, the prison in Iraq where the guards mistreated people? Or hell, let's go back to the My Lai massacre. It doesn't happen often but sometimes American soldiers have done bad things. So does that mean the families of victims are justified in harming you personally because of what some other American did?

I realize the frustration here but the fact is that, again, BP is not a monolithic entity. It's a bunch of different people, and no, they will not all agree with each other.

So you agree with me on this one.

I understand that. It's one of the reasons I said this...

Enron and Tyco weren't the first and won't be the last to get exposed in due time... And they employed thousands of good, hard-working people who had no idea what they were helping to facilitate.

The farther into this thing we get - the harder it is to not get emotional about it. When I find myself starting to get really angry, I try to take a step back and get a little perspective. Unfortunately, that new perspective often gives me new cause for anger.
