So just cause he felt like it? I cant buy that. God has a purpose for everything, every planet and every star other than for us to look at and think of how cool it is.

Earth is one of many planets in the universe with intelligent life.
There are extraterrestial life forms all over the universe.
Aliens have visited this planet, we just don't know the details.
Gotta link?

Maybe it’s for us to realize how insignificant we truly are without God and how powerful God truly is. Maybe there is a lesson to be learned in the vastness of space. Maybe it’s to remind us of how there are bigger things than us. But our egos continually force us to ignore that. And demand that we see ourselves as the center and master of the universe. But we’re not. And never will be.

Expanding into what?
Why the frick do people keep asking this?
The universe is mostly empty space. Every galaxy we can see is moving away from each other.
One of the ways we know this is that each element gives off a signature spectrum of light when burned. Picture the rainbow but with black bands that are unique to each element. It's like a bar code. We know what each spectrum is supposed to look like but the "barcodes" coming from distant galaxies is shifted towards a longer wavelength. Similar to how an ambulance siren sounds higher pitched when it's coming toward you and lower pitched as it's moving away.
Looking at the speed galaxies are moving away from each other we can work backwards to find that everything we can see originated at a single point. This also gives us the approx age of the known universe.
Light also has a finite speed and is relatively slow in a cosmic scale. There are probably objects out there we'll never even know about because the light from them will never reach us.

Since their formation in the Big Bang, the planets exist to evolve players into God's Universal Smear the Queer Battle Royale. Some planets, like ours, have yet to evolve to the point of participation. Others lie fallow, awaiting the spark of life, to present future participants with new challenges. Billions of years from now, in the moments before the heat death of the universe, one civilization will represent the last planet standing and be awarded the 4' tall bronze Truck Nuts of Supremecy Trophy. Then the universe will collapse and the cycle will begin anew.

What if all matter was god, then god exploded to create life and existence.
Damn.
Damn.

What if 5,000 years ago some people made up the bible stories to explain things in their world at the time? There's no mention of anything that they didn't know about back then, such as the rest of the universe, the existence of bacteria and other microscopic things, how to do cpr to save someone's life (that probably would have come in handy back then), dna, evolution, etc. Also, it's very convenient that we're just supposed to believe he exists, without actual proof. God says worship me, but I'm going to play a game and not give you any proof that I exist except for the word of a few people I talked to thousands of years ago, before there was any real science that could prove otherwise. You must blindly believe that I'm real, because somehow that makes it mean more when you worship me, instead of me just showing you I exist and then worshiping me for what I can actually do. In addition, I'm going to create fossils and dna just to throw you off track. I enjoy confusing you. Oh, and if you don't believe these random people from ancient times, you will burn in hell for eternity and no, you can't see hell. Just trust me, it sucks.
Just give me one verifiable miracle and I'll be on board. Just one. It won't happen though, just like ghosts won't be proven real (because they don't exist).

I think most get that things may be moving away from each other into empty space.
However, isn't the empty space also part of the universe? If not, is there a defining line between the empty space and the universe?
Are we suggesting that our universe is just sitting in the middle of this never ending empty space? Could there be millions of other universes spread far far away in this vast empty space?

My thought is that the "universe" is infinite, so yes, there are probably an infinite number of "universes."
The vastness of space is just a limitation of our understanding and relative notions of distance. Speed and distance don't matter. There is no end to it. Only an end to our comprehension.

The simple answer is that there are people who hav studied this all of their life and they absolutely cannot answer a question by saying “ We have absolutely no fking idea”

I get this, It seems like a sick game. If god made humans just to be worshipped there are much more effective ways to do it. One explanation i was given is that god is letting the devil control the earth for now to prove his own right to rule. Doing this by allowing the devil to fail miserably, which still seems very unfair. I've been told god allows suffering because he knows he can un do it at a future time. Just all seems like coping mechanisms to me
