I don't know what I think about people like Angelina Jolie. I guess she's just weird. That's way too many, IMO.

She's a millionaire, so she certainly has the means. I just worry about giving each kid the attention they need when you have so many.

It's harder to adopt an american kid, than a ruskie/asian/etc

they make you go through a million hoops, all costing a lot of $$$. It's a f'in joke how hard they make it, to adopt a fellow american child.

It's not any easier to adopt overseas. Both are long, expensive, and tedious processes. So it's obviously not something you go in to on a whim. The thing that needs to be driving you is your desire for a child, to help a child have a good life.

It's daunting if it's your first time and you don't know anyone who's gone through it who can prepare you and help walk you through. There are tons of grants you can apply for and fundraising kind of becomes your life.

I thought the same way you did originally. My Wife & I had a little girl & tried repeatedly to have another. After a few miscarriages, my Wife expressed her desire to check out adoption. I wasn't keen to the idea at first but warmed up to it after much prayer. So glad I did, we have a 2 year old little boy now that we adopted as a baby & it's been one of the best things to happen to me. I would've missed out on a serious blessing, but it's not for everybody. After exhausting our local options, We used American Adoptions out of Kansas. It's a huge company that has placements in all 50 states. Highly recommend them if you decide to adopt

We have friends who have 10 kids, only 3 biological. They have help and a great support system, but none of those kids are neglected at all. It's a hectic and tiring life, but no one ever wonders if those kids are being cared for.

Does anyone have any experience at being a foster parent at an older age, say 45 years old and older? By that time I am that age, my two oldest kids will be gone (they better be) and my youngest will be in college. My wife and I have talked about fostering a child once ours have gone on. Maybe by that time, we may be burned out on child-rearing but right now we feel we could help some child in the future.

We adopted and it's been the best decision of our lives. I'll be happy to answer any specific questions you have about adoption or the process.

You would love that child like she was y'all's naturally. I know, my twins were adopted after we fostered.

Look into fostering to adopt, there' s many kids out there who need a good home.

my best friend bought , er I mean adopted three kids through the Catlicks, because they couldn't have children and she nagged and nagged and nagged until he relented, they did a great job raising those kids that were probably destined to have a lot tougher life ahead of the them otherwise, he was definitely beaten into submission to do it, but once he conceded he was all in, kids are all college educated now with good jobs and a strong sense of family, don't know if I could have done it, those are my thoughts

I can only imagine the difficulty it could be when the child uses the "You aren't my real parent", but otherwise, I see it as a huge positive in our society.

Valid concern. But do it right and chances are that will never be said.
