Yeah, I was very fortunate. After seeing what a few close friends endured during their deployments with their SO I would say I'm blessed. My SO is very strong. She made it as easy as it could be.

That was years ago but I can still remember that moment now.

Glad you're home same safe as well.

A successful across-the-board tomahawk kill.

Oh yeah, and all the aforementioned domestic joys, wife, kids, blah, blah...

Your greatest joy in life
Years ago it was standing in flooded timber as the sun was rising drinking a cup of coffee. I don't hunt anymore but would like to experience that once more.

The feeling of being cleared for takeoff, setting the auto throttles and feeling 30,000 lbs of thrust courtesy of Rolls Royce is intoxicating.

The feeling of landing in the United States after being in a war, home unscratched.

Hearing a voice excitedly yell daddy when your child sees you're home.

Seeing that woman you are dating and realizing suddenly that you love her and can't live without her and after 20 years still feeling that way.

Those are a few

Although all of these are great, I can't imagine the emotions you would go through upon touch down after war. I get in my feels just thinking about it. Thank you for your service, sir.

Besides my kids & grandkids, it's my feet and the legs they're attached to (circa 1951). Step count last Wednesday...
