You handle this how?
1) crying, uncontrollable wailing? Shut down emotionally.
2) have a long heart-to-heart with him about how this could possibly be bad?
3) try to beat the gay out of him?

Explain that surgery is nowhere near capable of doing a full transformation at this time. And that he can always make a decision like that later but he can't reverse it once it's done.
