I still live in Louisiana (New Orleans), but visiting my home town (and the rest of the state for that matter) is pretty terrible. I was in my home town this past weekend, and I swear every time I passed by the McDonalds there was a line wrapped around the building.

Uhhhh.....not quite sure if serious.
1) As much as I enjoy certain areas, most parts of New Orleans are a shite-hole...& that's being nice.
2) So a town is horrible if there's long lines at Micky D's?!? What in the actual f$ck dude? By your logic, I must live in a pretty nice place since we have lines wrapped around Chick Fil A. lol man

Yeah, wondered about that. Hell, there's lines at McDonald in every town or large city.

Every year around Christmas we get one of these threads.

I enjoy traveling and seeing new places and I could see myself living in other parts of the country. I still enjoy Lafayette, though. Great restaurants, 3 breweries in the immediate area to hang out at, the Horse Farm is a fun place which will be cool when it's renovated, college sports in town, 2 hours to NOLA and 3 hours to Houston, plenty of spots to kayak and go fishing, etc.

Most places in Louisiana suck, but most places in most states suck.

Yeah, I don't think I'd live in any other cities in Louisiana, maybe New Orleans. My buddy lives in Lakeview and I really like the area, never felt like I was in immediate danger of being robbed or murdered.

I've always found the traffic complains to be exaggerated. BR and Houston or really any city of size are way worse in that regard.

Every place is "home" to someone. I know people who love rural North La, people who love New Orleans, people who love living in North Dakota. We all have our own preferences and people are just wired differently

The old "How terrible it is to live in Louisiana" is something repeated by people who don't have the ability to think for themselves and just repeat what they hear. Another way someone can feel better about themselves, I suppose.

I mean, Louisiana in general isn't for me but my values aren't exactly held by most people.

Traffic's not ideal because there aren't enough places to cross the river, but there's generally a way to skip out on some of the traffic if you know your way around town. Some are pretty simple, too, like taking Camellia instead of Ambassador Caffery.

Louisiana ranks at or near the bottom just about every SOL metric. It's objectively bad.

If I go all the way across Columbus it's $35-$38. I think they know exactly what they are talking about.

There are definitely parts of New Orleans that are awful, I don't live in one of those areas. The McDonalds comment had more to do with the lack of other restaurant options in my small home town. And yes, it's depressing that people will sit in a long line to eat the rubbish that is McDonalds.

La is awesome if you take advantage of all it has to offer. Some parts of La does seem like it would suck to live in, but that is all on the person and what makes the happy or miserable.

I can see how and why some people think it sucks, those are boring people, but some people like to be boring.

I have the PERFECT solution to this. Stay the frick away. We don't care if you don't come back!

There was a small delay in the typing of the above statement. Took a second to throw the McDonald's cup and fries container out the truck window.
