What do you consider a "great" day?
Posted on 2/14/16 at 7:03 pm to Pectus
Anyone who would trade nearly 3 years of your life for 1 generic "great" day should seriously seek mental health counseling.

Sure. I'd rather have fun than sit back and regret not having fun

I need 3 years more than one day.
I agree. I can think of a lot of great days that I've had. Now a truly exceptional day? That might be different but I still probably wouldn't chop three years off for that.
ETA: I define a truly exceptional day as one that sets me up for the rest of my life.

I would most certainly give up whatever days I have left for one more day with my son.

I read an interesting article about how we perceive time and enjoy our lives.
The summary is that the first 25 year or so "feel" like half of our life, in part due to the fact that each successive year represents an increasingly small fraction of your total time on earth:
1/1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 + 1/5 + 1/6 + 1/7...
...but furthermore you have more "novel" experiences early in life. You learn your first language, make your first friends, have your first kiss, graduate from highschool and possibly college, your first car, etc. etc.
The article finished by suggesting that in order to get the most out of our lives, we should get out and experience as many novel and unique things as we can. Get hobbies! Take vacations! Enjoy your time
So one great day in trade for 1000? Maybe not... but 1 great day in trade for 10 typical working week days? Absolutely

See, that's the thing. It's your call.
Someone said here that they have had 2 truly great days. Two births of kids. Let's say 3 for a wedding.
Would you trade 1000 days (2.75 years) for another day like that?

Dumbest shite I've read today for sure.
Posted on 2/14/16 at 7:31 pm to Pectus
I've had plenty of good days. No need to trade three years.

Well this thread just ruined my great day, you owe me 1000 days, you bastard

Something tells me that on your death bed at 75, you would gladly give up the memory of one great day if you knew it would give you 3 more years of watching your grandkids grow up. The simple things you do on a day to day basis matter much more when you are dying than any one great day.

You're not allowed to speculate on your last days and make exchanges here and there if not considering your first days to be allowed.
What about 1000 days from birth until 2.5 years old? or the next as well? Until you're five and a few months?

I would give up 1000 days to spend one more with my mom. That would be a good day to me.

Is this guy saying he'd give up almost three years for ONE awesome DAY?!?!
Wtf???
Wtf???
Posted on 2/14/16 at 8:32 pm to Pectus
Why give up any? I make my days great....they don't just happen

Sorry for your loss, how old was he?
Posted on 2/14/16 at 8:44 pm to Pectus
Absolutely not!
But I would give somebody else a good day for 1000 more days on earth.
I do it for nothing whenever I can.
In either case I'm pretty sure you'll live longer but doing so.

I've had way more than 27 great days in my life.
