We don't need money.
We don't need food.
We don't need water.
We don't need clothes.

We need tools
We need sheet rock
We need lumber
We need plywood
We need mold killer/preventer (like bora-care)
We need hands
We need feet

Is there an organization that donates that? Don't give your money to the Red Cross, instead go buy some of the above for those close to you.

TIA

Wouldn't money allow those affected to decide what they need and buy it?

You would think, but no. Money going to the Red Cross goes to their contractors for the first list. LA needs builders and workers.

The quicker people are working and living somewhere, the less the Red Cross is needed.

We can have all the workers in the world, won't matter if there is no lumber, tools, Sheetrock.

Harbor Freight was out of hammers one day last week so the Unknown Knight is convinced there is some big conspiracy theory out there. Don't try to reason with him.

I no longer live in the affected area, but have several friends that do. Instead of texting donations to the Red Cross, I picked up the tab on some tools and hardware this weekend when helping out. Put me in a much better state of mind than giving a blind donation.

That's the way to go. Pretty sure anyone who disagrees at this point either isn't paying attention, or hasn't been in the area.

I gutted houses on Thursday and Friday(not mine or my families). Delivered meals on Saturday.

St. Gabriel Hardware had buckets and buckets full of crow bars, hammers, etc. I bought several and brought them to the job sites figuring it wouldn't occur to many well intentioned volunteers what tools would be needed.

Yes it will take a little while for the supply of sheet rock, base boards, insulation to catch up but it will. Home Depot is good at logistics.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Most out there just need the resources to get all of this work done!

^^This^^

Also, if Lowes/Home Depot could step up keeping hammers, pry bars, cutters/razors/scrapers in stock that would be nice. The shelves have been EMPTY since Monday.

Fill em up!

I agree but my point was that many will sit and want someone else to do their work for them

You must hang around a different quality of people then. Most of the people I know in LP are hard working and would rather do the work themselves.
