one car my parents bought was a serious lemon. When it was in the shop, which was often, we drove my grandparents' old late 70's station wagon. I would lie down in the back and hide.

now, i'm ashamed that i was embarrassed about any of that. people are people, let them be who they are. i've learned that most of the embarrassment comes from projecting our own insecurities on our family members. it's not fair nor healthy, let them be who they are.

My grandmother was a relatively young granny and used to watch all the late night talk shows. She would come to all my little league baseball games and Arsenio Hall "woop" at any of my slightest accomplishments.
