"You can't complain if you don't vote"

This is more related to national elections. I have heard this so many times. "You can't complain if you don't vote, because you didn't do your part." What if you feel that neither mainstream candidate represents your views and/or you have fundamental differences with each of them?
Thoughts?

I do not vote and that is precisely why I can complain.

Do away with the electoral college and I'll bother voting

Well it really doesn't matter if you vote or not. The Electors, NOT YOU, decide who wins the election. Your vote is just a suggestion.

If a third party gets a high enough % they will be recognized.
I vote Libertarian if there is one. If not I vote for Les Miles in a write in.

Vote Libertarian and this won't be a problem.

I guess you haven't read the Constitution. Your username is quite ironic in that regard.

It's a dumb slogan. Political discussion ("complaining") can influence minds (although not always in the way anticipated), ergo, it can make a difference.
Tangentially, I hate the slogan, "it doesn't matter who you vote for, Just Get Out and Vote". What a load of horse crap. If you aren't voting the way I am, I don't want you to vote at all.
Here's a new slogan we should endorse, "If you have no idea who to vote for, just don't do it!"

Yes, you can complain if you don't vote. You have just as much right as any yahoo who voted

I pay federal, state, local, sales & property taxes among others. I'll complain as much as I please without casting a vote.
