I probably will have an unpopular opinion here but if America stressed conservation instead of “climate change” then maybe people would buy in a little more.
Fact is that vast majority of our power needs are satisfied by fossil fuels (we should be relying more on nuclear but that is another deal all together) and there is a finite supply of it.
People are wasteful in how they consume energy. We will quickly find that out thanks to our government imposing “green policies” in an effort to curb use of fossil fuels. The big push for electric cars will cause MAJOR problem with our current electric grid. Yes I said MAJOR problems. If half of America is plugging in their cars at night then our current grid is WOEFULLY under powered.
This was all caused by the powers that be making a fight out of something that we all could have agreed on. Limiting our consumption due to finite resources. Hell we could even charge a higher rate for people who consume lots of energy (I’m looking at you 62 thermostat guy).

Mine stays between 73-74. I might drop it down to 72 or 71 if there is someone going through menopause in the house.
One thing that always struck me as odd is when people drop their AC so low at night that they have to sleep under multiple layers of bedding. To me, if you need a sheet, a blanket and a quilt or comforter, you've made it too cool.

Ha, I set mine at 78 when I'm at work and 76 when I'm at home and run my fans and everyone thinks we're insane and tells us no way they could live like that. Most tell me the set theirs in the low 70's or even the 60's when sleeping.

Same here.
But 85 during the day is animal abuse. And 82 at night is a hellz to da no.
