I'm split when it comes to my opinion on dad bods.
1. On one hand I like it because it's inherently anti-feminist, and I hate feminists. Feminists loathe the fact that men and women desire different physical traits.
2. On the other hand, I hate what it says about many women - that they are insecure and want guys who are less fit than them and who have abundant free time to focus on them.

Do you think the comparison is "Dad bod vs. ripped", or are they comparing "Dad bod vs. scrawny" ?

Put two men in front of a woman and tell her to pick one. One is a dad bod and the other at 12% body fat with muscular definition and visible abs. Pretty sure most women pick the guy in shape.
Until she discovers Mr. 12% is a 29 year old bartender and Dad bod makes almost 6 figures with a vested 401K at the same age.

My kids say I'm built like Hank Hill, I didn't take it as a compliment.

That narrow urethra must be tough to deal with.

I always heard that the dad bod thing looks more manly to women on a visceral level.

Well, that's not his point. All things being equal, women are more SEXUALLY attracted to fit men (I'm not taking roidheads).
Women aren't attracted to the dad bods themselves. They are attracted to what they insecurely think the dad bod says about the man rocking it.

Excess Visceral fat around the midsection increases the chances of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and increases blood pressure.
Yale is full of shite.
Yale is full of shite.

With no other information, of course.

I can't agree with that. It's beyond cynical to believe most women (not girls) seek an inferior body type than their own simply to stave off potential infidelity. Which is what was previously implied.

I think it's more an attraction to the type of guy that skips the gym to go hang out with friends at happy hour after sitting at his desk all day.

Probably. But I absolutely think there are attractive women who will judge the guy in better physical condition and pick the other because she thinks the guy with abs is a douche.
People make prejudicial decisions based on physical characteristics all the time.

I do not find a dad bod unattractive. To me it represents someone comfortable in his own skin. He realizes he has value other than just a physique. He is generally more cuddly, funny, and accepting of people.
Gym rats or guys with fitness obsession tend to be extremely narcissistic which is a huge turn-off. They often seem to be on the make and are likely to be judgmental.

Women who are with a guy because of his money and resources are not actually attracted to the man himself.
Women don't separate the two. Being financially secure or having a good sense of humor is just as attractive to women as a nice pair of tits is to men.
It's not uncommon for a wealthy man to marry someone far beneath himself financially. But the reverse almost never happens. A wealthy woman will usually marry someone equal or above themselves (or simply remain single).
Why don't the wealthy women in the world marry the hot, young waiter stud? Because they simply don't find them as attractive. Physical attraction is lower on the list of priorities for women but it's at the top of the list for men.

12% bf and you most likely be pretty cut up and lean.

Ha! I'm definitely cynical. Not infidelity necessarily. They just don't want to be married to or in a relationship with a 24/7 reminder that they could be in better shape. They also incorrectly assume that a man who is in terrific shape will be a selfish partner who doesn't know how to have fun.
But, all things being equal, they'd rather sit on the wang of a muscular man than a flabby one. (I'm talking Hugh Jackman or Ryan Reynolds, not John Cena.)

Tall guys, over 6 4, have shorter lifespan.
Short under 5 6, have longer lifespan.
Heart has less to do.

Like, all the folks reaching 90+ are little fellas. Do tall people just die that much earlier?
How many jacked guys do you see at 70+?
No matter what bod a guy had in his 40s or less, all folks in their 90s are small due to aging.
