So...there has been a foul smell in my apartment for roughly 2 weeks. I searched high and low and could never find the source. It was just strong enough that I could smell it when I first walked in, and like when I would go into a new room, especially my bedroom and closet.
After awhile I guess I would get used to it and not notice.
So, today I was going to call the apartment and get them to look into it, however someone beat me to it yesterday. Turns out the found a body in "an advanced state of decomposition" in the apartment that shares my bedroom/closet wall.
The smell is better but I can definitely still smell it. I know it's not their fault, but is there any recourse for me living in dead people smell?
And it was very difficult to sleep last night cause I was freaked the frick out.

because someone died near you? Unless it was a murderer and they are still on the loose, there is no reason to freak out.

Just thinking about what was happening on the other side of my bedroom wall and the fact I was smelling it for the past few weeks

oh wow
I would be freaked out too, a decomposing body is a little concerning.

Sounds like you were ok with the smell, until you realized you might be able to get something out of the apartment managers

False, I was not ok with it hence why I was going to call today. And I was super not ok with it once I realized I was smelling a decomposing human. And I'm not looking for money, just like cleaning or something? I don't know

See if they will let you move to a different unit.

Get you some MF'ing Febreeze. They bring blindfolded people into houses filled with garbage in the commercials. Problem solved...

Was it an old person who died naturally or was someone murdered?
