WWL- World Wide Loyola
Prior to WWI the physics department at Loyola had a class on the new experimental wireless communication. They created an experimental radio station. This station evolved into WWL and was the first radio station in the area. The first broadcast were all done from a physics lab in the early 1920s.
In the summer of 1978 I got a job at WWL. I spent the entire summer scraping paint, chalking and painting the exterior of those old buildings. We got shutdown a few times because the paint color wasn’t approved by the French Quarter Commission
Also, I remember this was when Jim Henderson was first hired. I got pulled off the crew one day to go help the news team. We went to the City Park golf course and I had to carry around his golf bag while they filmed promos for Jim.

One of the bigger issues this country is facing that seems to be flying under the radar for most people is the continued consolidation of media into a smaller and smaller number of massive conglomerates. Media is owned — and information controlled — by just s few corporations now, most owning portfolios of hundreds of stations/outlets. It isn't a good trend.

Almost makes this movie from 1976 a documentary.

Whose idea was it to hire all of these overweight women to deliver the news? I just don’t understand this strategy.

Holy shite dude, you are way too into this stuff. WTF? Nobody cares about local broadcasting BS anymore. So go on Bryce, get your short wave radio, go back into the attic and chat with your friends in Germany about constellations. Talk about nerding out! FFS.

Would've paid to see a televised 'weather wimp off" between Bruce Katz and Carl Arrodondo
