The last time I was in Orleans Parish was Mardi Gras day, I went to Parley's to meet up with friends for a quiet beer. Before that I can't tell you the last time. Mind you I wasn't avoiding it, but now I am... I lived in Gentilly Pre-Katrina. I had a big chance to buy in Uptown Post-Katrina, I passed. I grew up in Uptown I had enough with my car being broken into, mugged at gun point and going to sleep hearing gunfire, and I lived in a good area.

In the category of "insisting on funding hopeless causes," an event that apparently didn't get much coverage at all in the local press, just hours before Jefferson Davis was to be brought down, Mary Matalin and James C. hosted a fund raiser dinner for him at their home for whatever political position(s) he's convinced himself he has a chance at.
A repeat of what they did for him in 2010.
Presently, there's a lively discussion of this travesty on WGSO 990 AM.

You have what I call stuffed in locker syndrome. You're presumably a white, middle to upper middle class male, decent job, who destests "normalcy", because normalcy was football players stuffing you in a locker which grew up to be middle class white accountants, engineers, lawyers, doctors, etc who vote republican and don't live in the city. Am I far off? Probably not.
