We're in the great city of Cincinnati, Ohio tonight for Monday Night Raw

Smackdown Live superstar Roman Reigns says he has unfinished business on Raw... WWE twitter says na-uh, you have Smackdown stuff to do... Roman says I'm kicking off the show... so let's see what happens

Raw's Money in the Bank competitors have unsettled business to take care of

Rollins and Styles start to turn up the heat before their Universal Title match at MitB

Usos get more creepy with the Revival

Samoa Joe still keeps attacking little, old Mexican men who want to be US Champion

The Man keeps being a chauvinist by attacking and degrading a lady

that and more on Monday Night Raw

I'm still at work following CLSU's conference softball tournament win at home today, so I probably won't be too active in tonight's thread.

Ratings are so bad they have bring in Roman. Rumor is our former Smackdown soy champ will be there too. Speaking of Roman, if anyone hasn't seen Jon Moxley's video you really should LINK. He posted it literally the minute his WWE contract expired.

Good evening fellow rasslin fans. I'm off work today and tomorrow so I'll be able to watch tonight. Hopefully it's a decent show.

I was never a fan of 'Dean Ambrose' and honestly I don't know much about his Moxley character other than he was a CZW guy. I do hope he finds success in what ever he does next in his career.

I'll be watching tonight

I still dont think falling ratings has anything to do with the product.

I liked him the most out of anyone in the shield, but more because I don't like Roman or Seth.

What do you think it is then? I'm really interested in your opinion.

I guess when you punch your boss in the face and don't get fired, you feel like you can do anything you want.

Can't wait for a new "Firefly FunHouse" episode tonight.

He is free to appear anywhere so could possibly be a surprise at Double or Nothing. Most of the current reports are saying he will do random indies for 6 months or so before signing a full time deal with someone. I could see AEW having him show up on the tv debut if not Double or Nothing.

And that's funny cause he was my least favorite. I never liked how he did certain things in the ring and honestly when fans started comparing him to Brian Pillman (loose cannon Pillman) that just kind of sealed it for me (I know that isn't his fault but it just made it worse).

Changing habits in media consumption in general across America

More people stream these days, less people watch through traditional broadcast or cable. Services like YouTube TV and Hulu where you can watch WWE live do not count toward Nielsen ratings. They do, but its not a part of the official measurement used, instead the OTT(over the top) measurement and its not factored into the main measurement.

More and more people are getting rid of cable. Detractors will point that WWE's ratings are falling at a higher percentage than that of those getting rid of cable.

A lot of people watch it on delay, and the official Nielsen Measurement is only people who watched it that day. It won't count those who watched the next day or within the next week.

It not being live in the West Coast hurts. West Coasters who want to watch it live have to either have satellite(counts toward Nielsen) or stream it(doesn't count).

Not only that but people have more and more entertainment options these days. Back in the Monday Night Wars heydey internet was still primitive and slow. 56k was the common speed. Faster internet didn't really gain mass traction until the mid 2000s. Smart phones didn't exist, and online gaming was still a very niche product only used by nerds on PCs. Your entertainment options back then were live TV(no streaming) or video games(but single player games only). There are more ways to divide people's attention these days, which will cause someone to just record or skip WWE programming.

I also think WWE posting highlights of RAW/Smackdown on YouTube the next day hurts since many people catch up that way.

I love tNDB!

I think it's a combination of the show not really being all that exciting the last couple weeks (IMO), being nearly impossible for anything nowadays to match the excitement and ratings of the Attitude Era, and generally less people watching live TV and more people watching stuff on DVR/Netflix.

But I could be wrong.

ETA: airlinelongnameguy made my last point better than I did.

I could see that with him working the independent scene to kinda get his love of wrestling back then head to AEW. I think it would be beneficial to AEW if he waits a while before joining. Right now there is so much hype that adding Dean wouldn't do much.... 6-9 months after they are on TV boom have him join.

I totally agree with it. I think if WWE had 'attitude era' tv where it's something you can't miss ratings would probably go up some. However like you said the YouTube highlights or whatever you want to say are still high.

If WWE was really having issues then Wrestlemania and the other big shows wouldn't draw the live gates that they do.

The streaming numbers are counted in their ratings. You can't deny live attendance is way down and fans are generally down on the product. WWE's latest financial report showed a loss and their stock has been dropping hard lately. They're about to get big injections of money with the next Saudi show and then the new tv deal in October but right now investors are way down on them.

I'd chalk this up to attendance is probably down at lots of stuff and people just have the Internet now to complain about everything. Did you know that over on another board on this site, people are calling for the firing of one of the best college baseball coaches in the country less than two years after he got to the national finals?

But I could be wrong.

remember when WCW had Lex Luger randomly show up on the 1st episode of Nitro?

Lugar's WWF contract had just ended and he silently signed with WCW... it was a major shock

I don't know if AEW could pull something like that off... but it would definitely be a fun boost if they can do it

Look up his old promos. They are unique. Look up his FCW feud with Regal. That is one of the best feuds, I have ever seen. Love it. He was basically Mox in FCW, his character changed with the shield, and he never got back to it.
Fan made promo
