ALRIGHT SMS here's my honest take on the failed coaching abortion we have going on
If instead of Greg Schiano it was Chris Peterson, chip kelly, Or Gary Patterson who had the history at PSU and we hired him very few of our fans would give a shite about it. Honestly I wouldn't give a shite about it
The backlash is stemming from what a letdown the hire would be.
Issue is most will say it's a letdown bc our fanbase had unreasonable expectations and with that I take issue. The reason we had unreasonable expectations is bc the AD never addressed any of the plethora of reports saying it would be at least one of the bigger names. Not once
They didn't even shutdown the Gruden talk. Just silence. Anytime there's silence that void is filled and it was. Most assumed since the AD never floated any names or leaked anything or said ANYTHING AT ALL that these reports must have had some kind of validity to them
Then they just drop Greg fricking Schiano's name like a turd at the center of thanksgiving dinner without even leaking the name a few days before for anyone to have any idea it was coming on a beaten, frustrated, and demoralized fan base.
It was a recipe for complete disaster and should be taught as "How not to handle a coaching search 101"
The fact is that if it were a "big name" very few ppl would care about the PSU stuff but it looks AWFUL and it absolutely is not worth the negative PR for someone who isn't a really good coach
