My wife and I aren't ballers, but we are in the top 20% income bracket. We've never been vehicle poor though. We drive an 8 year old truck and a mid trim Honda Accord.

Yeah we are about the same. Income climbed rapidly (more than doubled) in the past 4 years and we are fighting hard to keep our costs and lifestyle where it was before we saw this income growth.

We have a 4 year old GM and a 6 year old Toyota. And we have no real plans to swap them out anytime soon. They aren't the largest or the fanciest models those companies make. But they do what we need reliably.

Just looking at the prices of new cars because of this thread......I'm noticing how the exact same models with the exact same trim levels cost $10,000-$15,000 mile than the ones we bought years earlier. And I don't understand what value these new vehicles provide for buyers to trade in for newer models. Maybe a bigger infotainment screen? Slightly better MPG? Not a good enough reason for a massive price hike for what is likely a less reliable vehicle.

In the case of an F-150.....what the hell do these new ones offer to people that already bought an F-150 6-7 years ago that would tempt them to trade in? I don't think there's anything there.

Yep. My 8 yr old F150 doesn't have the big screen or GPS, but my phone does. Other than that, it's got pretty much everything I care about, and it's been paid off for 3 years.

That truck SHOULD last 20 years.

That’s probably a bit long of an expectation.

I generally like Toyota. But the new Tundra is a disaster on wheels. I didn't ask for an unreliable, high strung twin turbo V6 engine, I didn't want them to delete recovery hooks, or add an expensive hybrid motor. So many things they've added to that truck increase complexity and costs but don't add value for me.

This x10. Toyota killed the main reason to own one. Have three with their v8s now, all past 150K with only normal maintenance. No way I would swap one for the new engines and the cost.

This will work out great. $80K vehicles and people with poor credit

Maybe be a little more competitive on price? Back in Jan I shopped a F150 Lariat vs a Silverado High Country. GM was way more accommodating on price negotiation for roughly similar trucks that stickered about the same. My last two trucks were F150s so I figured WTH and took the Silverado. I have been very happy.

The bad news is that a lot of them that hit the market will be totally clapped out and barely running.

Kind of the used Ford truck market already.

In 20 years anyone trying to restore a 2010-2020 F-150 will have nothing but squatted/leveled trucks with cheap aftermarket parts on them. And that’s if the engines are still salvageable.

How much your pay for all this you didn’t want?

Used Toyota trucks as well as other trucks everywhere for sale

Have a Toyota v8 pushing 200,000. IF it dies I’ll by another old Toyota.

I’m not a woman so don’t care about “the dated interior” that people repeat from marketers.
