Writing a poem to a woman - no. Even worse if it's a cliche-filled one dimensional rhyming piece.
But if you actually write good poetry - sure. That's a skill.

It worked for me but that was back in 1986. It appears that writing is a lost art. Nothing wrong with writing poetry.
