I’ll be me and you be you, with your head in the sand. Easy enough.

NO US cellphone companies manufacture stateside. In fact, you’ll be hard-pressed to fill up your shopping list with anything JUST made stateside with that filter on. And I have ‘deduced’ that you realize that through other people pointing it out to you in above posts.

So as you move your goalposts, American companies, like Dewalt, have already moved theirs to accommodate you.

The world is too globalized in manufacturing to escape. Especially American companies looking to produce their products at a cheaper rate to maximize profit margins.

In the end, it’s just a marketing campaign to make you feel better about your purchase.

So do you feel better? Hope so, it seems I hurt those feelings by all the name calling sent my way. Sorry, I guess?

I never said I'd only buy American products. I just said I'd use the filter to see what I could buy that is American.

I don't why you're going down a cellphone tangent either, considering I was just talking about Amazon. Do you buy cellphones on Amazon?

Again, just would like the filter to see what's out there and try to buy American made when I could and it made sense. Admitted several times I can't "escape" it.

Hell yea, screw the ChiComs. I'm not some PoliBoard idiot, but I do have a serious problem with the way the Chinese community has handled this.

Amazon sells a boat load of counterfeit Chicom stuff. They don’t bother to check the source unless someone complains and usually the complaint comes from the American mfg. of the real deal and even then Amazon in some cases still sells the counterfeits. They have no interest in promoting American made products.

Two products look to have the same price and user reviews. They are essentially identical except for where they were manufactured/assembled.

One was made in America. One was made in Taiwan.

Do you pick the American one?

This is a valid question because there is a TON of grey area here.

What if someone gets the chemicals from China they use to make plastics? Is that Chinese or American? It would have to require some standard I'd think to classify things as "American Made", but I don't know what that is.

You folks need to familiarize yourselves with the "Buy American Act". I have to deal with it on occasion. It can be a headache for certain products to meet the requirements.

Yes, Yes I would. Though I've been going out of my way for the past few years now to buy things that are Made in the USA.. I'm not naïve enough to think I could buy it all that way, but if the option is there I'm picking USA all the time.

China is the enemy plain and simple and it's sad that most can't see that or turn a blind eye to it. I do everything in my power to not buy Chinese made products..

Very interesting stuff.

I bet the results for "American" would be very sparse on Amazon if they used that criteria

But it would be interesting to see!

I don't think I would even look to see where it was made. I don't think I've ever looked to see where something was made, except for a hockey jersey once about 10 years ago. I'd just pick one and go with it.

Ok let's keep going down this hypothetical because I'm bored

One was made in America and has a big American flag next to it. One was made in Taiwan and has a big Taiwanese flag next to it.

Edited.

Which one do you pick?

We manufacture air conditioning equipment (and lots of other products.) The majority of the components in our products are sourced in the USA however some components just aren't manufactured anywhere except China. It's unfortunate.

Components such as motors (Made in America) may have copper windings where the copper was sourced in China. The USA company isn't going to tell you this unless you ask and even then they'll say they source their copper worldwide (Mexico, South America, Korea, USA) because they probably do. This goes for many components used in manufacturing.

Let's start with a "not made in China" filter.

I still don't know. I'd probably check to see which one had cheaper shipping or could get to my house faster. If those were identical, I'd likely just go with the one that is currently open on the screen.

I want to buy American Made Only, but if everybody does it, I worry about what that might do to the stock market.

Would love to see some manufacturing jobs come back, but think most companies will put that off as far into the future as possible. One reason for them waiting as long as they can is them wanting to build as close to fully automated as possible. They probably think there will be more automated technology available the longer they wait,
