Basic present value (PV) calc can solve that one. Presume his smart phone has a financial calculator that he uses all the time.

I think it’s fiction, but it’s possible. You can make $80k+ and still qualify for some Medicaid service. Every year people show up at the capitol and discuss the importance of their $10k/mo prescriptions and $150k/yr. waiver services.

Depending on what you qualify for, it may be more of a hassle to take the inheritance and lose your eligibility for a few years, than to just waive it direct it to the next eligible family member.

Isn’t benefits based on annual income? Seems you could take the money and a year later get the welfare again if you have no income
