The exact opposite of this is true. 3 years is nothing on a modern vehicle, especially if it was well kept.

I'd take the one with 75,000 miles all day long.

It's uncommon knowledge and I figured most people would downvote but you are incorrect. The things that breakdown in vehicles like belt and hoses is because of age, not usage.

Obviously I'm not referring to extremes like a vehicle with 300k vs 50 but I'd buy a newer vehicle in most cases

You should look at vehicles as purchasing miles rather than purchasing a vehicle, so how many miles are you buying with each and what is the quality of the miles (i.e. compare features and mx history).
