For the guys saying motocross is a trashy sport, they couldn't be more wrong. Sure, there's the occasional baw with a beat up old bike in the back of his pickup, but motocross is an expensive sport. For my kid and I, the initial investment was around $15,000 - two bikes, full gear for two, enclosed trailer. Competing also involves a lot of travel, so a lot of people have nice RVs. It's very family oriented and the overwhelming majority of families we met were very good people. And racing in the older classes, I was lined up against doctors, lawyers, accountants, executives, etc. The guys who say it is trashy are generally the guys who would never have the balls to throw a leg over a dirtbike and attempt a 60 foot triple.

Ok, you win. I checked it out. Football does in fact have more in the states, but they play alot more soccer than football around the world. I am sure you add all them Hispanics and Europeans playing, Soccer would win in a landslide. However, I really could give a shite. I hate Soccer. My point was that Soccer isn't some safe harmless team sport that it is perceived to be.

I've raced dirt bikes for over 30 years... one son races, the other plays football. It does bother the hell out of me that they could, er... will get hurt. Dangerous sports. Mixed feelings.
