Austin is not a southern city by any means. Don't kid yourself there. I would say Austin is more similar to San Francisco than it is to Dallas or Houston. Austin prides itself on being weird and it is full of weirdos, hippies, and tree huggers. There are a ton of people from California living in Austin. Austin is an outsider in it's own state of Texas and they strive for that.

Agreed, I wouldn't consider Austin to be a southern city. It's completely different from anywhere else in TX. Which is why it's amazing.

Right on. So Anchorage area I'm assuming? If so, look into Eagle River. My wife works there and we love the area. I work and live in Anchorage, but we get out to ER as often as possible.
