The same crowd that thinks a new Mustang, Charger or Camaro are "sports" cars.
The Camaro has definitely moved far, far beyond the scope of a muscle car and well into sports car territory. To a lesser extent, the Mustang has too.
The Challenger is still a more of a muscle car.

Honestly, why would someone buy a Camaro?
Not hating on the car, but I just don't get the market.

I imagine there will be a sport mode that utilizes those gears well.

Sport mode on auto transmission or paddle shifters still dont compare to a real manual transmission. Toyota would be doing themselves a major disservice if its not offered in manual

I don’t own one, but I get the appeal.
I’ve driven the latest version of the Mustang, Camaro and Infiniti Q60. To put it simply, all three of those cars can put a grin on your face - even with their entry level engines. They feel quick, sound awesome, corner like they are on rails, and look cool.
The Camaro and Mustang also have a convertible version if I’m not mistaken.

Everyone says they want a manual, no one really buys a manual though. Especially when there are paddle shifters.
Numbers don't lie when it comes to selling cars.

Anything used as a daily driver in Baton Rouge traffic should not have a clutch pedal.

Manual in the stick variety is damn near dead.

Easy yes, just needs to actually come out

While I like the manual transmission too, the ZF-8 speed is faster and more fuel efficient in every way. Can handle track abuse all day long and wont let some idiot money shift it.
It wouldn't surprise me if they eventually came out with an MT version but the people saying this car won't be worth a shite without it are wrong.

I have sport mode and paddle shifters on an Avalon. Why?
Probably used them twice just to see if they worked.

I think they're dumb and get in the way in most cars. I think its pretty dumb for people to drive supercars around 90% of the time with the paddle shifters. Stick it in D and go unless you're on the track where it matters what gear you are in before the next turn.

First 3 cars I owned were all manuals. Drove manual every day for about 10 years. For the truck I have now, I like that its automatic. But if I was buying a high performance sports car then I would 100% prefer it in manual

For models that are common, I agree with you. But if you only look at high performance models, I think the numbers would tell different story. Most people buying Mustangs would probably want automatics. But if you just looked at people buying Cobras, I think most would want the manual

Well that's only because the GT350 is only offered in Manual

Stopped selling them in the US in 1998...

I'd bet at least 80% of 911s are sold with pdk. You can't buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren with a manual.
Manual is dead.
Porsche almost killed their manual offerings a couple years ago until their customers complained enough. The fact that they nearly did tells you a lot.
