1985 was a fine year but I was 6 years old and broke.

Sorry, I'd much rather be an adult with a career out on my own.

I did enjoy being able to get into Tipitina's, and Jimmy's in New Orleans as an underage teen to see bands like Jane's Addiction, The Pixies, Soundgarden, Love and Rockets, Jesus and Mary Chain, Lords of the New Church and New Model Army amongst others between 1986 and 1989.

Yeah man Jimmy’s was awesome. Dash Rip Rock played there all the time as well.

are far many more and better looking women now.

The obesity level has risen dramatically since 1985...along with concepts called "fat acceptance" and "fat shaming."

1984 is my personal favorite. Graduated from high school, started college. Lot of memories.

Sports-wise, the Los Angeles Olympics were awesome. Music was great. MTV was at its peak. Lot of cool stuff happened.

My dad was in college 82-86, all the stories he has from his year in college honestly sounds much more fun than the college I went/am still going through.

People weren’t as serious back then.

Truth.

Much more carefree time, people didn't overanalyze everything and kids didn't get punished as severely for being kids. The anxiety levels were far lower.

If you live life right, and are either very lucky, or appreciate mistakes as a learning opportunity, then every year is the best year ever!

And yep! I saw 1985. At LSU. My friend died that summer working a job. LSU football sucked. Parking was tough, but easier than today, and massive tailgates were far fewer. I think beer trucks at frats were outlawed about now, or maybe the next year. I saw the beginnings of what became ‘Better than Ezra’ at the house. Murphy’s was for Freshmen and The Bengal, and the Cotton Club were good places to go.

But that is no better or worse than today.

Make each year better. shite, I didn’t have an iPhone, a house, kids, or a boat in 1985. So, there’s that. ??

I would say 84-85

Pop and Country music were great
LSU football was decent
Malls weren’t shitholes
No one was preoccupied with their phones and lived in the now.
Women were way hotter
Football was better with actual living legends playing the game.
Those Rocky movies
Reagan bombing Khadaffi’s daughter’s tent to shut him up.
Video games were cool
Stock market was still good (till 87)
Right was right and wrong was wrong
TV shows were actually funny
No reality TV
MTV played music
People stayed till the end of games in Tiger Stadium.
