Yep. Eat like a mofo.

I got in contact with a guy who is a pro on this shite and he has helped me and it has only been a couple of weeks.

What he says is probably bro science to guys in here, but I was seeing changes within days. Good changes. My chest is getting bigger and my abs are coming back.

Use the 80/20 rule. Eat 80% foods what you would considered "clean" and 20% whatever you want. In reality the body only notices food as a protein, fat, or carb.

I'm almost 99% sure at your height/weight you're not truly eating 3000 cals OR you're under estimating your activity factor. Just curious do you do cardio?

Almost never. I would supplement with a 300 calorie protein shake on top of what you're doing now. If you're not gaining muscle weight, all you're doing dirty is fluid and worse, fat.

A little extra fat is fine for offseason cushion, but that's a consequence of eating a lot - bad weight should never be a goal - unless a person is so dangerously underweight they need anything at all.

I track everything I eat so I know exactly how much I've eaten and have left to eat in a given day.

I haven't run in a while other than 400m runs and shuttle sprints, but I'm on the rower and aerodyne machine a decent amount.

Just cut out all the cardio. Have you tried that?

Yeah, #Gainz means caloric surplus. You're not getting them if you're getting your gay on on some Swiss sissy bike

And sleep.

Let's take apart the typical - stress, rest/recover, improve part of the cycle - Americans just opt out of sleep. If someone was training correctly, eating correctly (and enough) and even resting muscle groups according to known training principles - and not making gains - I would first evaluate if this is an expected plateau. If so, this would be the trigger to go into active rest for a week or so and shake everything up for the next cycle.

But, the very next thing I would do would be get the athlete to keep a sleep log for a couple of weeks. Sleep, even for adults, is the most important rest interval - across the entire range of health, which also includes fitness.

I made my best muscle (not weight) gains when I was sleeping in shifts - I would sleep 3 or 4 hours at the end of the workday - lift (and cardio) in the middle of the night and sleep again from about 0400 to 0900. It was more out of necessity and I was probably overtraining at one point. But, I have to admit, I was never in better shape in my life, and I was mid-30s then.

I was worried about the overtraining thing the time I was finishing my cardio workout, watching the local nationals start to clean up the gym for the third time while I had been there. There had only been 1 other person there the entire time - probably the end of a 3-hour session.

Whew. I get tired just thinking about it.

Sprints are great, if it were me I would add +200 cals to what you're eating just on days you train.

That makes sense. I'll start doing that for sure. Thanks.

That was going to be my recommendation

If you're eating that much/lifting and are still that skinny maybe that's just the body type you're stuck with
